Navy pressed into action to clean remains collected in Deduru Oya near Anavilundawa area
Sri Lanka Navy pressed into action to clear debris and other remains collected in a tributary belonging to the Deduru Oya which flows in the Anavilundawa area of Puttalam. The Navy shouldered this task from 22nd to 24th June 2022 to clear the tributary, as it was blocked by the overgrowth of aquatic plants and the accumulation of waste.

The President and Commander-in- Chief of Armed Forces of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed Rear Admiral Upul De Silva as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, effective from 21st June 2022. Accordingly, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, officially handed over the letter of appointment in this regard to Rear Admiral Upul De Silva at the Navy Headquarters and congratulated him.

MRCC Colombo renders assistance to rescue a group of distressed fishermen in Arabian Sea
Ship MT-ALTAIR rescued 05 persons in distress aboard a local multiday fishing trawler that went into a mechanical failure, while in Arabian Sea on 20th June 2022. The rescue was coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo established at the Navy Headquarters.

In parallel with the 101st World Hydrography Day that falls on 21st June, Sri Lanka Navy marked the annual celebration at the auditorium of National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA) today (21st June 2022). A special foot patrol conducted by the Navy in Kondachchikuda beach area, Silawathura in the night of 16th June 2022 led to the seizure of a smuggled stock (about 490 kg) of Kendu Leaves, which are being used for tobacco products.

Navy blood donation campaign organized in view of 2566th Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi concludes successfully
Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Sri Lanka Navy organized a series of blood donation campaigns in each naval command. The timely drive commenced in parallel with the 2566th Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi came to a successful end on 16th June 2022, with the final programme held in the Western Naval Command.
