Sri Lanka Navy pressed into action to clear debris and other remains collected in a tributary belonging to the Deduru Oya which flows in the Anavilundawa area of Puttalam. The Navy shouldered this task from 22nd to 24th June 2022 to clear the tributary, as it was blocked by the overgrowth of aquatic plants and the accumulation of waste.

MRCC Colombo renders assistance to rescue a group of distressed fishermen in Arabian Sea

Ship MT-ALTAIR rescued 05 persons in distress aboard a local multiday fishing trawler that went into a mechanical failure, while in Arabian Sea on 20th June 2022. The rescue was coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo established at the Navy Headquarters.

A special foot patrol conducted by the Navy in Kondachchikuda beach area, Silawathura in the night of 16th June 2022 led to the seizure of a smuggled stock (about 490 kg) of Kendu Leaves, which are being used for tobacco products.

The timely drive commenced in parallel with the 2566th Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi came to a successful end on 16th June 2022, with the final programme held in the Western Naval Command.
