Navy’s operational insights shared with next generation of officers
An operational experience sharing programme for young officers and officer under trainees of the Eastern Naval Command was held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium on 4 July 2026.
The programme, organised following an idea of the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Commodore Dhanesh Pathberiya, aimed to provide participants with professional insights drawn from operational experience and to support their leadership development.
The session featured presentations by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kosala Warnakulasooriya, Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dammika Wijewardana and Director Naval Internal Audit, Commodore Roshan Athukorala. Drawing on their operational experiences, the senior officers shared valuable insights into leadership, decision-making and professional responsibility in demanding circumstances.
The experience-sharing session also aimed to better prepare young prospects of the Navy to effectively respond to future operational challenges in the course of their naval careers.
