New Commanding Officer takes helm of SLNS Wickrama-II

Commander Yapa Weerathunga officially assumed duties as the new Commanding Officer of SLNS Wickrama-II on 7 September 2026, during a formal ceremony at the 'PH Bay' premises at the Kankesanthurai harbour.

In a ceremony steeped in naval tradition, Commander Susiri Silva formally handed over command of the vessel to Commander Weerathunga, following an official reception of the new Commanding Officer. Captain Chameera Jayasuriya, Commanding Officer Naval Deployment Veththalakerni was present at the event representing the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet.
