JMSDF ship OONAMI departs island concluding goodwill visit
The Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) ship OONAMI arrived at the port of Colombo on a goodwill and replenishment visit on 09 Mar 26. The visit concluded on 11 March, as the ship departed the island, receiving a formal farewell from the Sri Lanka Navy, in keeping with naval traditions at the Port of Colombo.

Navy takes lead with officials and fishing communities in north to address fishing-related issues
The Northern Naval Command conducted an awareness programme and discussion on 10 Mar 26 at SLNS Uttara, to address pressing fishing-related issues in the Northern Province. This programme which builds upon previous efforts of a similar nature, was led by the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage.

Navy provides vital support to treat injured wild elephant
The Sri Lanka Navy extended essential assistance to the Department of Wildlife Conservation to treat an injured wild elephant on 10 Mar 26. The elephant, which had sustained gunshot wounds, was discovered roaming within the premises of SLNS Mahanaga in Panama.

The annual feast of St. Anthony’s Church on Palaitivu Island, Jaffna, was held with pious sentiments from 04 to 07 Mar 26. The festival concluded successfully following the celebratory Main Mass conducted by the Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese, Very Revd. Fr. P.J. Jebaratnam.
