New SBS batch receives coveted insignia from Navy Commander
With a deep sense of honour and long-standing naval tradition, the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) marked a significant milestone on 10 Apr 26, at its Headquarters in Trincomalee. At the invitation of SBS Commanding Officer, Commander Lakmal Weerakkodi, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, presided over the insignia awarding and passing out ceremony for Course No. 33. The event celebrated the successful completion of the demanding SBS training programme by 24 sailors, a powerful testament to their resilience and commitment.

Navy swiftly responds to bring ashore an ill fisherman for urgent treatment
The Sri Lanka Navy swiftly responded to bring ashore an ill fisherman and transfer him to hospital, for urgent medical attention on 09 Apr 26. The fisherman was aboard a local multiday fishing trawler off the south coast and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo coordinated the retrieval of the fisherman.

In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for academic brilliance, the Sri Lanka Navy organized a ceremony to award scholarships to the children of naval personnel who demonstrated outstanding performance in the G.C.E. Navy’s premier Marine Field Training Exercise “Blue Whale – 2026” concluded on successful note in Trincomalee
The 04th edition of Sri Lanka Navy’s signature Marine Field Training Exercise, “Blue Whale – 2026,” commenced on 20 Mar 26, under the patronage of the Commandant Naval Infantry, Rear Admiral Rohan Dissanayake. Organized by the Sri Lanka Navy Marines, the exercise spanned the waters of the Eastern seaboard and its adjacent coastal belts. The closing address of the Exercise “Blue Whale” was presided over by the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kosala Warnakulasooriya, at the Marine Headquarters, SLNS Vidura in Trincomalee on 26 March.
