A Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, built as part of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project by the Navy's Research and Development Unit was declared open at the village of Digannewa in Kotawehera, Kurunegala on 22 Feb 25. The project, carried out with industrial expertise of the Research and Development Unit, marked the 1082nd unit delivered under the NSR Project.

The Passing out Parade of 12 naval officers who successfully completed Basic Orientation Course (Medical) 03/2024 was held at the main parade ground of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee today (22 Feb 25). The event was graced by Commandant NMA, Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph, as the Chief Guest.

Aligning with the national initiative of “Clean Sri Lanka,” focused on cleaning school premises, the Sri Lanka Navy carried out a community service project today (22 Feb 25) to clean and refurbish Wahalkada D2 Vidyalaya in the Anuradhapura District.

The project, carried out with industrial expertise of the Research and Development Unit, marked the 1081st unit delivered under the NSR Project.

The Commander of the Navy, handed over letters of appointment to 16 officers, enlisted to the Sri Lanka Navy under 2024/03 Direct Entry scheme, at the Navy Headquarters today (21 Feb 25).

As part of the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative, a project aimed at improving infrastructure in 1,000 schools kicked off today (20 Feb 25) at Ananda Central College, Modara in Colombo. This initial stage of the project will focus on renovating 200 selected schools. The event was also attended by the Commander of the Navy.

A delegation from 54th Pakistan Navy Staff Course of Pakistan Navy War College, currently in Sri Lanka on their foreign study tour from 18 to 23 Feb, visited the Navy Headquarters in Colombo today (19 Feb 25). The International Military Sport Council (CISM) Day Run was flagged off under the patronage of the Commander of the Army and President of the Defence Services Sports Board, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte today (18 Feb 25). The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe also participated in the event, joining military personnel and sports enthusiasts.

Giving a significant boost to Sri Lanka’s hydrographic capabilities, the government of Australia handed over a state-of-the-art Shallow Water Multi-Beam Echo Sounder to the Sri Lanka Navy Hydrographic Service (SLNHS) during a ceremony held at SLNS Rangalla today (18 Feb 25). The formal ceremony was held under the auspices of the High Commissioner of Australia to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Paul Stephens and the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, marking new chapter in the discipline of hydrography.
