At the final encounter of the Inter Command Rugby Championship 2015, which was conducted from 28th to 30th August at Welisara Rugby grounds, the Eastern Naval Command beat the Training Command and became the champion command winning the Cup Championship also.

Promptly responding to the request made by Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the Sri Lanka Navy dispatched Sri Lanka Naval Ship “Udara” from the port of Galle on 28th August 2015 to rescue ten local fishermen onboard multi-day fishing trawlers “Manusath” and “Isuruputha 03” drifting 63 km (35 nautical miles) South East of Hambantota due to an engine failure.

The Australian Naval Ship HMAS “Melbourne” arrived at the port of Colombo on 29th August 2015 on a goodwill visit.
