The Indian Ocean Region's Senior Drug Enforcement Officials' Meeting which was jointly organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Ministry of Defence got underway at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo on 13th October 2015.

The Sri Lanka Navy presented a cheque worth of Rs. 50,000/= under the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, to Romesh Madhuwantha, a resident of track 2, Dikwewa, Senapura, as a token of appreciation for fighting for the life of his beloved mother sacrificing his own life.

Sri Lanka Navy assisted the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to arrest twenty-four Indian fishermen along with four Indian fishing trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters at the distances between 3 to 6 nautical miles from Thalai-mannar on 12th October 2015.
