Sri Lanka Navy assisted the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to arrest nine Indian fishermen and an Indian fishing trawler poaching in Sri Lankan waters North East of Point Pedro on 14th October 2015. Approximately 600 kgs of fish catch, which included cuttlefish, Maduwa and Karalla was also taken into custody during the arrest.

The Commander North Central Naval Area Rear Admiral Dimuthu Gunawardane declared open the newly constructed Senior Officers’ Holiday Bungalow at SLNS Shiksha in Poonewa on 12th October 2015. Senior naval officers in the area were also present on the occasion.

A training programme on Underwater Un-exploded Ordnance (UXO) recovery was conducted by the US Navy for Sri Lanka Navy personnel at the SLN Diving and Salvage Unit in Trincomalee.
