Navy renders assistance to clear up flood affected areas
 

People who were badly affected due to the adverse weather condition prevailed in the country in the past few days, have now started proceeding towards their residences having returned to normality in their lives. In this backdrop the Navy engaged in a task of clearing up garbage, which was piled up in public places and on either side of roads in Wellampitiya, Kotikawatta,Kolonnawa,Biyagama and Bandarawatta areas, since 30th May 2016.

Moreover naval personnel managed to clean 80 wells in Biyagama, Mabima and Bandarawatta areas today (3) and that raises the total number of cleaned wells to a figure of 462 by now. Over 600 naval personnel from SLNS Parakrama, SLNS Thakshila, SLNS Rangala, SLNS Mahasen and SLNS Kelani rendered their active participation in this noble task. Further having engaged in this kind of assignments, the Navy expects to restore the life style of flood victims as soon as possible.
