An all-night pirith chanting ceremony followed by a mid-day alms giving was held at SLNS Gemunu in Welisara on 2nd and 3rd December 2016 in view of the 66th Navy Day which falls on 09th December.

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Buwaneka located in Nachchikuda belonging to the North Central Naval Command arrested 3 persons who trapped a rare species of sea turtle in Anthonipuram area and were attempting to transfer the turtle by illegal means yesterday (2).

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the proposed slipway in Kayts Island was held under the patronage of Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva on 2nd December 2016.
