Navy recovers 60 banned nets in Pookkulama area

Naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command recovered 60 banned nets at Pookkulama beach area in Wilpaththu, today (5^th May).

Accordingly, 60 nos of banned fishing nets each 500m in length which no one claimed the ownership, were recovered at a fishing hut by Naval troops during a cordon and search conducted in Pookkulama area.

The arrested unauthorized nets were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector-Mannar for onward action.
