In recognition of the notable performances carried out by a group of naval personnel who made valiant efforts to rescue the life of severely injured third engineer of fire-stricken crude oil tanker, MT New Diamond, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne presented Letters of Commendation to them at the Navy Headquarters.

Sri Lanka Navy granted an interest free loan worth Rs. 500,000 each to 75 senior sailors and Rs. 200,000 each to 60 junior sailors for the first time today (21^st September 2020). The occasion to hand over cheques to the beneficiaries was presided over by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters.
