Proposal for Sri Lanka Navy’s Strategy 2030 & Beyond presented to Hon. President

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera presented the “Proposal for Sri Lanka Navy’s Strategy 2030 & Beyond” to Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President and Commander - in - Chief of the Armed Forces of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka at the Navy House in Naval Dockyard Trincomalee on 01st March 2024. The Navy introduced Sri Lanka Navy’s Strategy-2030 in line with the government’s objective to guarantee the complete development of Sri Lanka as a thriving nation by 2048. The strategy formulating team, comprising senior naval officers, was also present on this occasion.

With a view to embark on a transformative journey, driven by a clear vision and a comprehensive strategy that charts the Navy’s course towards a secure and prosperous maritime future, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera appointed a strategy formulating team, chaired by Director General Operations Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris, for the compilation of “Proposal for Sri Lanka Navy’s Strategy 2030 & Beyond”

The “Proposal for Sri Lanka Navy’s Strategy 2030 & Beyond” stands as the Navy’s narrative, conceptualization, emanating from a conscious effort made from an understanding of the strategic environment, emerging domestic and global realities and risks involved at synthesizing viable course of actions in the pursuit of the national interests successfully. The document presents the rationale informing grand policy of how the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Coast Guard intend to create desired strategic effects in support of the state’s enduring interests. Before the proposal being presented to Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President of the strategy formulating team, Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris made a comprehensive presentation on the same to the President.

Chief of Staff to the President and Senior Adviser to the President on National Security Mr Sagala Ratnayaka, State Minister of Defence Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) and Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva, distinguished invitees and senior officers from the Navy Headquarters and Eastern Naval Command were also present on this occasion.
