Disabled retired sailor donated a wheelchair

Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander of the Navy, together with Mrs. Mala Lamahewa, President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, presented a wheelchair to retired Able Seaman IDN Thilakkumara, who sustained injuries during humanitarian operations. The donation took place at his residence in Waththegama, Kandy, on 10th November 2024.

The Navy lent ears to the request of the junior sailor who sought assistance from the Directorate of Naval Welfare to obtain the wheelchair, for his disability. Accordingly, the Navy made funds from Naval Social Responsibility available for the wheelchair.
