Naval Care Center ‘Anchorage’ receives financial support for hydrotherapy pool
A charity group led by Mr. Dinesh Weerakkodi, the President of Buddhist Council Victoria, Australia and monks from Atisha Buddhist Centre, Bendigo visited the Naval Care Center ‘Anchorage’ in Welisara on 09th January 2025. The purpose of the visit was to extend financial support for the construction of a hydrotherapy pool at ‘Anchorage’ to enhance the physical and emotional well-being of dependent naval war heroes in rehabilitation.
After inquiring into the well-being of dependent naval war veterans at ‘Anchorage’, the charity group extended the financial support worth Rs. 2 million, for a hydrotherapy pool which could offer a versatile and effective therapeutic option for improving the physical, emotional, and social well-being of dependent naval war heroes, helping them lead more active, comfortable, and fulfilling lives.
Meanwhile, the former President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Mala Lamahewa, presented laptop computers to the children of two naval war veterans—one who sacrificed his life in the line of duty and the other who was wounded in action. The former Commander of the Navy, Admiral Priyantha Perera (Retd), Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe and a group of officers were also present on this occasion.
