Sri Lanka Navy Adventure Team completes another challenging expedition
The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) Adventure and Nature Sports Team recently (from 16th to 18th January 2025) concluded a successful adventure and camping expedition, traversing some of the most challenging and picturesque terrains in Kalupahana. The journey covered key landmarks, including Bambarakanda, Weli Wanguwa, and the iconic Devil’s Staircase to Ohiya, showcasing both the team's resilience and the breath-taking natural beauty of the region.
The exercise combined trekking, camping, and adventure sports, enabling participants to navigate steep trails, rugged landscapes, and dense forests. Notably, the expedition passed through Bambarakanda, home to Sri Lanka's tallest waterfall, and the Devil’s Staircase, a winding, steep path renowned for its thrilling and demanding ascent.
Despite the promotion of adventure sports, this time the expedition team took the opportunity to clean up the plastic and polythene that the previous climbers had dumped as a nature conservation initiative and a part of the Navy’s CSR.
A group of senior officers and officers, including Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Varuna Ferdinanderz, Chairman SLN Adventure and Nature Sports, Captain Nissanka Wickramasinghe and members of the Adventure and Nature Sports Pool joined the expedition.
