Navy bids adieu to Rear Admiral Chinthaka Rajapakse

The Sri Lanka Navy today (23 Jan 25) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Chinthaka Rajapakse who relinquished his duties to which he was committed over the past 34 years in the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, along with the Board of Management of the Sri Lanka Navy, extended best wishes to the retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Rajapakse was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. As the customary event drew to a close, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, before he was sent off in a motorcade amidst the cheers of naval personnel.

Rear Admiral Chinthaka Rajapakse joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 08th intake of then General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy in 1990. Throughout his distinguished naval career, the senior officer had the privilege of holding prestigious positions, including Acting Command Engineering Department (North Central), Acting Deputy Superintendent Dockyard (West), Acting Inspector New Construction, Command Automobile Engineering Officer (West), Acting Deputy Director Sports, Instructor at the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Deputy Superintendent Dockyard (East), Deputy Director Engineering Services, Deputy Director Marine Engineering (FAC & IPC), Commodore Superintendent Dockyard in Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Naval Commands, Director Engineering Services, Director Marine Engineering and Director General Engineering.
