Mangrove planting project takes root in Talaimannar under Clean Sri Lanka initiative

The Navy launched a mangrove planting project in the beach front of Naval Detachment Urumalai, Talaimannar on 28 Jan 25. This initiative was carried out as part of the 25th anniversary of the Provost and Regulating branch of the Sri Lanka Navy, in support of the government's "Clean Sri Lanka" project, launched under the vision "Beautiful Island, Smiling People.”

The event saw planting of 120 mangrove saplings which provide vital habitats for many species, once grown. A group of officers and sailors from the North Central Naval Command participated in this event.
