Navy to accord a 25-Gun Salute to the nation on Independence Day
On the sidelines of the 77th Independence Day celebrations, the Sri Lanka Navy is scheduled to honour the nation with a 25-Gun Salute onboard SLNS Sayura, off the Galle Face at 12.00 noon on 04 Feb 25.
The tradition began on 04 Feb 1948, when the Royal Navy accorded the first Gun Salute to honour the Independence Day of Sri Lanka. Since then, the Navy has upheld this legacy, according a 25-Gun Salute, on the Independence Day.
As a proud tradition of the Independence Day, the Sri Lanka Navy will accord a 25-Gun Salute to the nation tomorrow (04 Feb) aboard SLNS Sayura, with 47mm guns dedicated to this prestigious tribute.
