Navy joins forces for infrastructure overhaul at schools under “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative

As part of the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative, a project aimed at improving infrastructure in 1,000 schools kicked off today (20 Feb 25) at Ananda Central College, Modara in Colombo. This initial stage of the project will focus on renovating 200 selected schools. The event was also attended by the Commander of the Navy.

As a major partner in the "Clean Sri Lanka" campaign, the Sri Lanka Navy has stepped forward to support the government’s vision of a “Beautiful Island, Smiling People.” This initiative aims to strengthen nationwide efforts in environmental, social and governance initiatives, aligning with the broader goal of creating a cleaner and more sustainable Sri Lanka.

Under the theme of "A School Full of Happiness," the project to develop infrastructure facilities in 200 schools, which commenced today, saw the initiation of infrastructure development at Ananda Central College, Modara with the contribution of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Under this programme; the Sri Lanka Navy is set to carry out several renovation projects at the school with their technical and engineering support. These include colour-washing the primary section building, repairing electrical connections in the primary section classrooms, renovating the pavilion of the ground and colour-washing the wall along the school's entrance pathway.

A group of individuals, including officials from the Ministry of Education and officers of the "Clean Sri Lanka" national project, also participated in this inaugural event.
