Navy extends industrial expertise to renovate Wahalkada D2 Vidyalaya
Aligning with the national initiative of “Clean Sri Lanka,” focused on cleaning school premises, the Sri Lanka Navy carried out a community service project today (22 Feb 25) to clean and refurbish Wahalkada D2 Vidyalaya in the Anuradhapura District.
As a major partner in the "Clean Sri Lanka" campaign, the Sri Lanka Navy has stepped forward to support the government’s vision of a “Beautiful Island, Smiling People.” This initiative aims to strengthen nationwide efforts in environmental, social and governance initiatives, aligning with the broader goal of creating a more sustainable nation. Accordingly, the Ministry of Defence is overseeing the cleaning and renovation of 200 selected school premises across the country. This effort is part of the broader programme to develop infrastructure in 1,000 schools. The project is being carried out with the technical and engineering support of the Tri-Forces.
Following the directives of the Commander of the Navy, the North Central Naval Command undertook the cleaning and renovation of Wahalkada D2 Vidyalaya to enhance its teaching - learning environment. The project was carried out under the supervision of the Commander North Central Naval Area, with the Command providing both technical expertise and manpower.
