Twelve (12) officers pass out at NMA after completing Basic Orientation Course
The Passing out Parade of 12 naval officers who successfully completed Basic Orientation Course (Medical) 03/2024 was held at the main parade ground of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee today (22 Feb 25). The event was graced by Commandant NMA, Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph, as the Chief Guest.
The distinguished ceremony saw 12 medical officers from the 34th and 35th intakes of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) as well as the Direct Entry scheme marched off with pride and honour on successful completion of their Basic Orientation Course.
At the awards ceremony, Acting Sub Lieutenant (Surgeon) Vimukthi Wijesekara was presented with the award for the Best Officer of the Basic Orientation Course, by the Chief Guest.
Addressing the new bunch of officers, the Chief Guest congratulated them on their achievement and he further stated that the Navy expects officers to be fully dedicated to fulfilling their duties with efficiency and effectiveness in the future. Additionally, Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph expressed his gratitude to the parents who encouraged their children to join the Navy to serve the motherland.
The event was made more colourful by performances of the Navy band. A group of senior and junior officers from the Eastern Naval Command as well as the parents of passed out officers were also present on this occasion.
