Navy’s commitment to community ensures cleaning of Usgala Gemunu Maha Vidyalaya, Maho
In line with its ongoing dedication to community service, the Sri Lanka Navy organized a clean-up initiative at Usgala Gemunu Maha Vidyalaya, Maho on 15 Mar 25. This effort was part of the "Clean Sri Lanka" campaign, a nationwide programme aimed at fostering an educational atmosphere that upholds national values, incorporates social ethics, and prioritizes environmental sustainability. The initiative revolves around the theme, "A School Full of Happiness," reflecting its focus on creating joyful and sustainable learning environments.
The Sri Lanka Navy is a key partner of the "Clean Sri Lanka" campaign, aligning with the government's vision of "Beautiful Island, Smiling People." In line with this vision, the Navy is actively contributing to the mission of the “Clean Sri Lanka” project, aiming to reposition the nationwide efforts of environmental, social, and governance initiatives.
Under the theme "A School Full of Happiness," schools are being urged to cultivate a vibrant, innovative, disciplined, and talent-focused community by creating a clean, nurturing, and safe learning environment. This effort seeks to build a strong foundation for both individual and societal development. As part of this initiative, which emphasizes improving school facilities and infrastructure, the Navy has successfully revitalized 30 schools, turning them into conducive places that enhance students' learning experiences.
The recent initiative at Usgala Gemunu Maha Vidyalaya, designed to foster environmental awareness and cleanliness while enhancing the relationship between the Navy and local residents, was conducted under the guidance of the Commander North Central Naval Area.
