Commander CTF-150 pays courtesy call on Commander of the Navy
A delegation from the Combined Maritime Forces’ Combined Task Force (CTF) 150 called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda at the Navy Headquarters today (24 Mar 25). The delegation was led by Commander CTF-150, Commodore Rodger Ward.
The Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) is a multinational maritime partnership, comprising 46 nations. Sri Lanka joined hands with CMF as its 39th member country in 2023. This multinational maritime partnership which upholds the International Rules Based Order (IRBO) by countering illicit non-state actors on the high seas and promoting security, stability and prosperity, operates with 05 Combined Task Forces. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Navy is commanding CTF-154, for the first six month of 2025.
CTF 150 conducts Maritime Security Operations (MSO) outside the Arabian Gulf to ensure that legitimate commercial shipping can transit the region, free from non-state threats. Commencing from 15 Jan 25, the New Zealand Navy is commanding CTF-150
The cordial discussion between Commodore Rodger Ward and Vice Admiral Banagoda mainly focused on matters to promote a safe maritime environment free from illicit non-state actors. The official interaction drew to a close with an exchange of mementoes, as a symbol of goodwill and cooperation.
Meanwhile, the Director General Operations delivered a brief presentation to the delegation, highlighting the Sri Lanka Navy’s critical role in maritime security operations.
The delegation is scheduled to visit the Sri Lanka Coast Guard and the Ministry of Defence during their five-day official tour, which runs from the 22 to 26.
