Navy takes lead in conserving sea turtles and sets free 42 hatchlings to ocean
The Sri Lanka Navy set free 42 sea turtle hatchlings at the Panama beach on 25 Mar 25. As part of the Turtle Conservation Project of the Sri Lanka Navy, the eggs of these hatchlings were conserved, to help them start the journey to adulthood.
As a major contributor to the 'Clean Sri Lanka' project, the Navy continues to support through an assortment of conservation efforts.
The Turtle Conservation Unit at SLNS Mahanaga in the Southeastern Naval Command, successfully preserved the eggs of newly hatched sea turtles. The Navy is committed to this worthy initiative, safeguarding marine biodiversity by ensuring the survival of sea turtles, a key species in the ecosystem.
