Local fishermen empowered with essential life-saving techniques and health awareness

The Sri Lanka Navy partnered with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to conduct another essential life-saving training for local fishermen. The training session was held at the Muthur Fishery Harbour, Trincomalee on 27 Jun 25, equipping participants with vital skills for safer fishing activities.

Demonstrating its ongoing dedication to public welfare and community development, the Naval Command Hospital - East led the programme in which local fishermen were equipped with essential first aid and life-saving techniques vital for emergencies at sea. Key areas covered also included Basic Life Support (BLS), field triage, mental health awareness, addiction prevention and pre-non communicable disease screening.
