U.S. Embassy delegation visits Special Boat Squadron Headquarters, Trincomalee
A delegation from the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka, led by Lieutenant Colonel Matthew House, Defence Attaché to the U.S. Embassy visited the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) Training School in Trincomalee on 15 Sep 25.
The delegation witnessed a demonstration of the "Ship-in-a-Box" training simulator at the SBS Training School. This facility, supported by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime's Global Maritime Crime Programme, provides advanced training in vessel boarding, search, and seizure (VBSS) procedures.
The Defence Attaché commended the Sri Lanka Navy's dedication to enhancing its capabilities in counter-narcotics and maritime law enforcement. He reaffirmed the United States' continued support for the Sri Lanka Navy's vital role in promoting peace, stability, and the rule of law throughout the Indian Ocean Region.
