Poppy commemoration marked with symbolic gesture at Navy Headquarters
The President of Sri Lanka Naval Association, Rear Admiral Manil Mendis (Retd) pinned a poppy on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, at Navy Headquarters on 19 Nov 25.
The gesture was made in connection with the annual poppy commemoration held to honour the noble dedication of armed forces personnel who have laid down their lives in the defence of the motherland since the First World War.
In this context, the Sri Lanka Naval Association’s presentation of the poppy to the Navy Commander highlighted the collective respect and remembrance shared by the naval fraternity for the fallen heroes of the Navy.
The Vice President of the Sri Lanka Naval Association, Rear Admiral Rohan Amarasinghe (Retd), along with several members of the Association, also attended the occasion.
