The 16th International Research Conference (IRC) of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) commenced at the KDU Auditorium on 07th September 2023 with the gracious presence of the Chief of Staff to the President and National Security Advisor, Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka. The event which was graced by the Defence Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), as the Guest of Honour, was also attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera who is also the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force to combat the use of poisonous and dangerous drugs chaired a special meeting at the Navy Headquarters in Colombo on 01st September 2023.

The Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) Annual Training Camp commenced at the VNF Headquarters in Welisara on 04th September 2023. The event was graced by Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Saman Perera.

Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva assumed duties as Commander Eastern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters in Trincomalee on 03rd September 2023.

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Delhi which arrived in Colombo on 01st September 2023 on a formal visit, departed the island today (03rd September). The Sri Lanka Navy bade a customary farewell to the departing ship in accordance with naval tradition at the port of Colombo.

Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara assumed duties as the fifth (5th) Vice Chancellor (VC) of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) on 01st September 2023.

Rear Admiral Saman Perera who was newly appointed as Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, assumed duties of Commander Western Naval Area at the Command Headquarters today (01st September 2023).

Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe assumed duties as Commander Southern Naval Area at the Southern Naval Command Headquarters today (01st September 2023).

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) ‘Delhi’ arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit this morning (01st September 2023). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval tradition.

The Sri Lanka Navy today (01st September 2023) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Senarupa Jayawardana who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed for over thirty-eight (38) years.
