INS ‘Gharial’ – a Landing Ship Tank of the Indian Navy arrived at the port of Colombo today (29th April 2022). Upon her arrival, Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting ship in compliance with naval traditions.

A blood donation campaign organized by the North Central Naval Command, as part of another social responsibility initiative of the Sri Lanka Navy, was held at the Command Hospital on 28th April 2022.

The Logistics Conference-2022 and Certificate Awarding of Long Logistics Management (LLMC) Course No.6 were held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 23rd April 2022. The Director General Logistics of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Nishantha De Silva graced both the events as the Chief Guest.

Two hundred and ninety one (291) recruits of the 244th intake of Sri Lanka Navy’s Regular and Volunteer Forces, passed out in a smart parade held at the main parade ground of SLNS Nipuna in Boossa, Galle on 22nd April 2022.

Four (04) officers and twenty-eight (28) sailors who successfully completed the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) Qualifying Course-26, were awarded insignia at the parade ground of RABS Headquarters in Gagewadiya, Puttalam on 09th April 2022. Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Prasanna Mahawithana graced the event as the Chief Guest.

Sri Lanka Navy Women Petty Officer, Gayanthika Abeyrathna set a new national record in women's 800m today (09th April 2022). Asian Gold Medalist shattered the previous record of the event, during the Centenary National Athletics Championship - 2022 held at Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium.

The first floor of the Sri Lanka Naval Association (SLNA) Secretariat was declared open by Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne who serves as the ex-officio Patron of the Sri Lanka Naval Association, at the Welisara Naval Complex today (07th April 2022).

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne awarded scholarships to children of naval personnel, for their academic excellence at the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A/L) – 2020. The ceremony in this regard was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters today (06th April 2022).

The winners of Navy Public Speaking Competition – 2021 received certificates and prizes during a ceremony presided by Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral YN Jayaratne at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium today (05th April 2022). The competition was organized by the Naval Research Wing in a bid to provide opportunities for naval personnel to inculcate the vital skill of public speaking.

BNS ‘PROTTASHA’, a corvette of the Bangladesh Navy arrived at the port of Trincomalee today (02nd April 2022). Upon her arrival, Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting ship in compliance with naval tradition.
