A Training of Trainers (TOT) programme focused on educating naval personnel as how to prevent Non Communicable Disease (NCD) and guiding them for a healthy life, was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters on 16th and 17th December 2021.

The opening of the computer laboratory of Howpe Maha Vidyalaya, renovated by Sri Lanka Navy, was held with the attendance of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Prasanna Hewage on 20th December 2021.

Sri Lanka Branch of the Nautical Institute in the United Kingdom has recognized the academic excellence of two naval officers who stood out in courses conducted by Sri Lanka Navy. The awarding of respective certificates and awards to those officers were held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and Chairman of Sri Lanka Branch of the Nautical Institute, Captain (Merchant) Nimal Perera, at the Navy Headquarters on 20th December 2021.

The Bangladesh Naval Ship ‘Abu Ubaidah’ which arrived at the port of Colombo on 18th December 2021 on an official visit, departed the island today (20th December).

Sri Lanka Navy has organized a wide range of programmes as part of its 71st anniversary celebrations. As an extension of these events, a cleaning programme was held in the Hamilton Canal area and Uswetakeiyawa Beach, under the patronage of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant of Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Upul De Silva on 19th December 2021.

The spiritual event to unveil the Sacred Pinnacle of newly built Barana Chaithya at SLNS Barana in the Northwestern Naval Command was held at the temple premises of the naval establishment on Unduwap full moon poya day (18th December 2021). At the invitation of Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularathne, this meritorious event was presided by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, with the attendance of President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne.

On the sidelines of the 71st anniversary celebrations of Sri Lanka Navy, the event of planting 100,000 mangrove saplings in the lagoon area from Chilaw to Malwathuoya, estuaries and banks was held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne on 18th December 2021. In the meantime, Commander of the Navy also ceremonially declared open the new jetty of Puttalam on 18th December 2021.

The Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) ‘Tughril’ which arrived at the port of Colombo on an official visit on 13th December 2021, set sail from the island after a successful naval exercise with Sri Lanka Navy on 16th December.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne handed over Navy-manufactured thalassemia infusion systems to the Ministry of Health, during a simple ceremony held at the Navy Headquarters today (15th December 2021).

The Defence and Naval Attaché of Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi and accredited to Sri Lanka, Captain Jakarin Khowrat, RTN called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (14th December 2021).
