The Defence Attaché of Embassy of Italy in New Delhi and accredited to Sri Lanka, Captain (Navy) Fabrizio Falzi called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (07th December 2021).

Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Life Saving in partnership with Northwind Projects conducted lifesaving training programmes at SLNS Elara in Karainagar for youths in Jaffna. On successful completion of the programmes 16 youths were awarded certificates in a ceremony held under the patronage of Governor of the Northern Province, Hon. Jeevan Theagarajah and Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera on 05th December 2021.

At the invitation of Commandant Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC), Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne today (06th December 2021) addressed the student officers of the course no. 15 of DSCSC, Sapugaskanda.

The North Central Naval Command organized a blood donation campaign at SLNS Gajaba on 04th December, to coincide with the 71st anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne presided over an all-night Pirith chanting and alms giving ceremonies held at the Welisara Naval Complex on 03rd and 04th December 2021. These religious rituals were performed customarily to invoke blessings on the 71st anniversary of Sri Lanka Navy, falling on 09th December.

On completion of over 34 years of distinguished service, Rear Admiral Rohana Lelwala retired from the Navy today (04th December 2021).

A special Islamic prayer session was conducted at the Jummah Mosque on Chatham Street today (02nd December 2021) to invoke blessings on the forthcoming 71st anniversary of Sri Lanka Navy (09th December).

Deputy Head of Mission European Union, Mr. Thorsten Bargfrede and representatives of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) handed over 04 Portable Backscatter X-ray Machines to Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (30th November 2021). These handheld instruments enable users to quickly and effectively find concealed narcotics and other contraband.
