Commander of the Navy inspects health care facility expansion projects for COVID -19 treatment

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne today (15th May 2021) made a visit to review the progress of amenity expansion in Intermediate Care Centre for COVID-19 in Gampaha as well as Wathupitiwala, Gampaha and Minuwangoda Hospitals . In support of the government’s effort to improve health care facilities for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, Sri Lanka Navy is currently working in full swing to complete these projects in the Gampaha district, following the directives of His Excellency the President, Gotabaya Rajapaksa and guidance of Secretary of Defence, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne.

Navy supports COVID-19 inoculation drive in Export Processing Zone, Katunayake

On the sidelines of the vaccination programme set about to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sri Lanka Navy in collaboration with the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) in Katunayake Export Processing Zone (EPZ) carried out another inoculation drive to administer ‘Sinopharm’ vaccination to employees of EPZ today (15th May 2021).

New pediatric unit of Navy General Hospital Welisara declared open

The newly constructed pediatric unit of Navy General Hospital Welisara was declared open under the auspices of the President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne and with the attendance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the hospital premises today (14th May 2021). The amenities of Navy General Hospital Welisara were further expanded with this new facility in a bid to extend more health care facilities to the children of naval families.

NSVU provides ICU beds to Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa

As yet another social responsibility initiative of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), 03 High Dependency Unit / Intensive Care Unit (HDU / ICU) beds were provided for the use of Special Maternity Unit of the Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa. The generous deed was held under the patronage of the NSVU President, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne and with the attendance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Light House Galley on 12th May 2021.

Commander of the Navy commends fine virtue of naval person

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne recognized a fine virtue of Leading Seaman AGHS Udayakumara XS 100126 by awarding him a Letter of Commendation at the Naval Headquarters today (10th May 2021). Thus, the sailor was much admired for returning a wallet with money lying at the No 03 entrance of Colombo harbour on 27th April 2021, to its owner.

An Intermediate Care Centre for COVID 19 established at Boossa naval base

Working in line with the Government's efforts to expand facilities required to treat COVID 19 contracted individuals, Sri Lanka Navy established an Intermediate Care Centre for COVID 19 with 162 beds, at the Boossa naval base in Galle on 04th May 2021.
