His Excellency the President, Gotabaya Rajapaksa today (11th November 2021) presided over the opening of National Defence College (NDC) in Colombo and this momentous event was also attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne. National Defence College (NDC) was established as the premier institute that promotes strategic thinking for the senior officers of the tri-service, Police and Public Service.

Relinquishing duties to which he was committed more than 33 years, Rear Admiral Asoka Wijesiriwardane retired from naval service today (05th November 2021).

Commodore Kamal Bombugalage who held office as Acting Director General Electrical and Electronics retired from naval service on 03rd November 2021, on completion of over 33 years in the Navy.

Sri Lanka Navy’s middle and long distance athlete Leading Women Sailor, Gayanthika Abeyrathna received a service promotion to the next higher rate of Petty Officer from Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne effective from today (02nd November 2021).

The training ships of the 01st Training Squadron of the Indian Navy; INS ‘Shardul’, ‘Magar’, ‘Sujata’, ‘Sudarshini’, ‘Tarangini’ and ICGS ‘Vikram’ which arrived in Sri Lanka for a bilateral naval exercise on 28th October 2021, departed the island on 27th and 28th October 2021, on successful completion of naval exercises held in Colombo and Trincomalee.
