Making his maiden tour of inspection after assumption of duties as Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne paid a visit to the Northwestern Naval Command on 29^th and 30^th August 2020.

Another Reverse Osmosis plant installed as part of a Naval Social Responsibility initiative at the Debarawewa National School in Tissamaharama was declared open for the benefit of school children under the patronage of Hon. Chamal Rajapaksa, Minister of Irrigation and State Minister of Internal Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management today (31^st August 2020).

Rear Admiral YN Jayarathne assumed duties as the Chief Hydrographer of the Sri Lanka Navy Hydrographic Service (SLNHS) as well as the Joint Chief Hydrographer to the Government of Sri Lanka, during a ceremony held at the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency on 28^th August 2020.

The Navy declared open 03 more Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants for the benefit of community in several villages in Mahiyanganaya on 28th August 2020.

Bringing another community service endeavour of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) project to fruition, 03 more Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants were declared open for community use by Commander North Central Naval Area in Anuradhapura on 26^th August 2020.

In recognition of the endeavours carried out for marine environment protection, the Sri Lanka Navy received a special accolade at the awards ceremony organized by the Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) in Colombo on 22^nd August 2020. JASTECA has announced this awards ceremony to encourage entities to adopt Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, going beyond their statutory obligations.
