Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne made an inspection visit to the Navy General Hospital in Welisara on 06^th August 2020. This turned out to be his very first visit to the Navy General Hospital, upon assumption of duties as Commander of the Navy.

Upon completion of his distinguished career spanning over three decades, Rear Admiral Muditha Gamage retired from the naval service today (07^th August 2020).

Another 15 individuals who successfully completed their quarantine period at the Boossa and Kalpitiya Naval Quarantine Centres proceeded homewards today (07^th August 2020).

Captain Buddhika Rupasinghe took over command as the new Commanding Officer of the Offshore Patrol Vessel, SLNS Sayura today (06^th August 2020).

Having developed into a floating damage control platform, the ex P 419 craft, which had already been cast aside from operational service, was handed over for the training purposes of the 4^th Fast Attack Flotilla on 05^th August 2020. The simple ceremony held in a bid to mark this occasion was presided over by Commander Eastern Naval Area.

Following the incessant downpour received over the past couple of days, the Wakwella and Dodamgoda bridges in Galle collected tree remains and debris underside, posing a flood threat in the area. Responding promptly to this adversity, the Navy last week was pressed into action to ease the possible flood situation, by removing waste collected under those bridges.

Three new Commanding Officers namely, Commander Chamila Rajapaksha, Commander Shantha Ambanwala and Lieutenant Commander Induwara Dharmarathne took command of SLNS Abeetha II, SLNS Ranawickrama and SLNS Ranawijaya respectively on 04^th August 2020.

Nine (09) more individuals who successfully completed their quarantine period at the Boossa and Kalpitiya Naval Quarantine Centres proceeded home on 02^nd, 03^rd and 04^th August 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy on 03^rd August 2020 bade farewell to Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul who retired from his distinguished naval service that spanned over 34 years.

Commodore Priyantha Perera assumed office as Commander Southern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters on 31^st July 2020.
