USS Spruance of the United States Navy arrived at the port of Colombo on a replenishment visit today (18th November 2024). The Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting ship in compliance with naval traditions.

USS Michael Murphy of the United States Navy which arrived at the port of Colombo on a replenishment visit on 16th November 2024, departed the island today (17th November), after successfully completing its replenishment operations. The Sri Lanka Navy extended a ceremonial farewell, upholding its rich naval traditions, as she departed.

The Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) ship SAMIDARE arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit this morning (17th November 2024). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, who is presently serving as the Commander Western Naval Area, assumed duties as Commandant Volunteer Naval Force at the Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) Headquarters today (15th November 2024).

The Sri Lanka Navy today (15th November 2024) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Lashanth N Hewavitharane who relinquished his duties to which he was committed over the past 33 years in the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Indian Navy submarine INS Vela, which arrived in Colombo on 10th November 2024, departed the island today (13th November), on successful completion of its formal visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing submarine at the port of Colombo.

The Task Force to Combat the Use of Poisonous and Dangerous Drugs is set to conduct an all-Island Art and Video Animation competition under the theme “EMPOWERING CHILDREN AND YOUTH FOR BRIGHT FUTURE WITHOUT DRUGS”. This competition, organized for school children and the youth community, is scheduled for November 2024. The Colombo Plan and Dialog Axiata PLC are sponsoring prizes for the winners of the competition. Today, On 11th November 2024 representatives from these organizations met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, who chairs the Task Force to Combat the Use of Poisonous and Dangerous Drugs. During the meeting at Navy Headquarters, they symbolically presented the prizes.
