On the sidelines of International Women's Day (08^th March), Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) organized a celebratory event to mark this special day on high note. The event which was held under the auspices of the Chairperson of Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chithrani Gunaratne at the Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake Auditorium on 08^th March 2021 was dignified by the presence of NSVU President, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne and Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

Defence Secretary, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne, along with Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, visited ‘Sandahiru Seya’ in Anuradhapura and ‘Mihindu Maha Seya’ in Mihinthale to inspect the on-going construction and renovation work of respective stupas on 06^th March 2021.

Sri Lanka Navy partnered with the Indian Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force to take part in an air observer training exercise on a Dornier aircraft of the Indian Navy, conducted in the southern coast from 02^nd to 05^th March 2021.

Reaffirmed strongly with the necessity of the continuation of National Security Adviser (NSA)-level meeting between India, Sri Lanka and Maldives, a secretariat for trilateral National Security Advisers on Maritime Security Cooperation was formed under the auspices of Secretary of Defence, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne at the Navy Headquarters today (01^st March 2021).

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) ship ‘Setogiri’ arrived at the port of Hambantota on 25^th February 2021.

The new library building erected utilizing manpower enabled by the Navy at Paragoda Sri Gunarathna Primary School, Imaduwa was declared open for school children on 25^th February 2021. The opening of the new facility was presided over by Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera.

Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Gamage declared open a new accommodation building for junior sailors at SLNS Deegayu on 24^th February 2021.

The capping ceremony and pledging of allegiance to the service by 44 Naval and Air Force nursing students who studied at Naval Nurses’ Training School, SLNS Thakshila was held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, SLNS Parakrama today (25^th February 2021). This batch of nursing students from both Navy and Air Force was enlisted in the year 2019 to the Naval Nurses’ Training School which is accredited to the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU).
