CISM Day Run - 2026 kicks off in Galle Face
The International Military Sport Council (CISM) Day Run 2026 was flagged off under the patronage of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo in Galle Face on 07 Mar 26. Organised by the Sri Lanka Navy and steered by the Commander of the Navy and President of the Defence Services Sports Board, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, the event saw the participation of military personnel and sports enthusiasts.

Navy brings ashore crew member of JMSDF ONAMI for medical attention
With the coordination of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo, the Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to bring ashore a crew member, in need of medical attention, of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) ship ONAMI, sailing in the western seas off Colombo, on 06 Mar 26.

Maldives Coast Guard Ship Huravee departs island
The Maldives Coast Guard Ship Huravee which arrived in Sri Lanka for replenishment purposes, departed the island on 04 Mar 26. In accordance with naval tradition, the Sri Lanka Navy extended a customary farewell to the departing ship at the Port of Colombo.

SLNS Sagara and Nandimithra return after successful participation in International Fleet Review and Exercise MILAN-26 hosted by Indian Navy
Sri Lanka Navy Ships (SLNS) Sagara and Nandimithra sailed back into the Port of Colombo on 27 Feb 26, having proudly flown the Sri Lankan flag at the International Fleet Review (IFR) and MILAN-26 multilateral naval exercise held in India. The vessels were welcomed with traditional naval honours upon their return.

The annual feast of the historic St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchativu was celebrated on a high note on 27 and 28 Feb 26, drawing a vast number of devotees from both Sri Lanka and India. Navy’s expertise powers another step towards safe water access in Wariyapola and Kahatagasdigiliya
Two (02) new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants, set up by the Sri Lanka Navy, were officially opened on 24 and 25 Feb 26 at the village of Bayawa in Wariyapola and Gonumaruwewa in Kahatagasdigiliya.

Navy’s latest addition P 628 sails for Colombo from Baltimore
The Offshore Patrol Vessel P 628, which was formally handed over to the Sri Lanka Navy by the U.S. Coast Guard in December 2025, departed for Sri Lanka from Baltimore, United States on 20 Feb 25. The home bound journey began, after the modernization work of the ship to suit the operational needs of the Sri Lanka Navy.
