The Sri Lanka Navy recently hosted a Regional Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) Instructors' Course and a Radiological and Nuclear Incident Scenario exercise at Special Boat Squadron Headquarters and certificate awarding ceremony was held at Sober Island Resort in Trincomalee on 01st November 2024.

The Research and Development (R&D) Orientation Course 2024, held from 21st to 30th October, 2024, effectively trained and inspired sailors in the field of R&D in the Sri Lanka Navy. A certificate awarding ceremony marked the course's conclusion on 30th October, held at the Conference Hall of the Research and Development Unit at SLNS Thakshila, Welisara.

The Sri Lanka National Hydrographic Office (SLNHO) added another feather to its recent streak of achievements with the publication of the new Electronic Navigation Chart (ENC) of the Galle Harbour, at the SLNHO on 31st October 2024. This is the first ENC produced by the Sri Lanka National Hydrographic Office since its establishment.

The Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit of the Sri Lanka Navy conducted a comprehensive theory and practical training programme at the port of Colombo on 30th October 2024.

Commodore Harsha De Silva assumed duties as Acting Commander Southeastern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters today (30th October 2024).

Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage, currently serving as Director General Training, assumed duties as Director General Operations of the Sri Lanka Navy at the Navy Headquarters today (30th October 2024).

In response to a request from the Ministry of Health, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted two workshops for a group of medical officers about diving, marine and hyperbaric medicine training. The workshops were conducted at the Diving Unit in the Eastern Naval Command from 07th to 09th June and on 26th and 27th October 2024.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera embarked on a formal visit to the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 26th and 27th October 2024. During the visit, the Navy Chief was accompanied by the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando. The visit highlighted key welfare, construction, and operational progress in the Eastern Naval Command, where Vice Admiral Perera also addressed officers, officer under trainees, and sailors regarding the role of the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Sri Lanka Navy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, hosted a two-day workshop focused on enhancing knowledge about Blue Carbon Ecosystems and the biodiversity of the Mannar Landscape. The event took place on 25th and 26th October 2024, at SLNS Barana.

The Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jagath Kumara declared open newly constructed Junior Sailors’ Messes at SLNS Gajaba and SLNS Pussadewa in the North Central Naval Command on 18th and 19th October 2024.
