Twenty two (22) members of healthcare staff of Colombo North Teaching Hospital in Ragama and another five (05) healthcare staffers of the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases in Welisara were sent to the Naval Quarantine Centre in Mulankavil, Mannar today (12^th April 2020).

As part of the Navy’s effort to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus in the country, a disinfection programme was carried out at the Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya today (12^th April 2020).

The Navy on 09^th April 2020 conducted an intelligence operation to apprehend 28 persons who were avoiding quarantine orders remaining in the village of Suduwella, Ja-Ela. Subsequently, this group of persons were sent to the SLN quarantine centre at Oluvil for proper quarantine process.

A remote-controlled smart appliance called ‘Medi Mate’ developed by Navy to treat COVID-19 patients was handed over to the Kalubowila (Colombo South) Teaching Hospital today (12^th April 2020).

Stepping in to provide some respite to the people confined at apartments under self-quarantine in Colombo district, the Navy on 11^th April 2020 conducted 02 musical programmes at housing complexes in Keththarama and Grandpass areas.

Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 02 persons who were destroying mangrove habitats, during a raid conducted in Mundalampiddi lagoon in Mannar on 11^th April 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to safely bring an ill seaman to the port of Colombo on 11^th April 2020. The person had fallen ill with an abdominal pain while onboard Maersk Avon container ship.

In its continuous efforts to control the spread of new coronavirus within the country, the Navy conducted several disinfection programmes at Colombo North Teaching Hospital in Ragama, Base Hospital in Minuwangoda, Zahira College in Puttalam and several banks in Maradana and Colpetty areas on 10^th and 11^th April 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy renovated the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital on 23^rd March 2020, with the objective of expanding necessary facilities for the treatment of patients contracted novel coronavirus in the country.

Twenty six (26) more individuals who completed their quarantine period at the quarantine centre established at Boossa Naval Base, left for their homes on 08^th, 10^th and 11^th April 2020.
