Rear Admiral Bandara Jayathilake assumed duties as the Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Fleet, on 26^th June 2020.

During a special search operation conducted in northern sea area, the Navy managed to apprehend 02 persons attempting to smuggle 295kg (in wet weight) of tobacco products (beedi) in the wee hours on 26^th June 2020.

The Navy apprehended 18 persons along with 04 dinghies for engaging in fishing using unauthorized nets, during 03 separate search operations in Eastern seas on 23^rd and 25^th June 2020. Accordingly, the accused were held in the sea areas off Foul Point – Trincomalee and Kokkuthuduwai – Mullaitivu.

Six (06) more individuals who completed their quarantine period at the quarantine centre established at Kalpitiya by Navy, left for their homes on 23^rd and 24^th June 2020.

Another 09 naval personnel who had contracted COVID-19 and underwent treatment in hospitals, were discharged from them after gaining full recovery from the virus, confirmed by PCR tests, on 25^th and 26^th June 2020.

Fifty (50) senior sailors of Sri Lanka Navy were awarded interest free loan facility valued five hundred thousand rupees (Rs.500,000/=) each, by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral, Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Naval Headquarters on 25^th June 2020.

The Navy apprehended a suspect for possession of heroin, during a coordinated search conducted with Narcotic Bureau in Mannar on 24^th June 2020.

Twenty four (24) more individuals who completed their quarantine period at the quarantine centre established at Boossa Naval Base, left for their homes on 24^th and 25^th June 2020.

In an attempt to improve oral health of naval personnel as well as the public living in rural areas, a mobile dental surgical unit introduced by the Navy, commenced its operations with effect from today (25^th June 2020).
