The visit focused on reviewing key welfare, construction, and operational developments within the complex. Additionally, Vice Admiral Perera addressed a cross-section of officers and sailors in the Welisara Naval Complex, underscoring Navy’s commitment to enhancing its operations and personnel welfare.

The Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rohitha Abeysinghe declared open a newly constructed Junior Sailors’ Mess at the Pallikuda Coastal Observation Point on 23rd October 2024. This facility, established under the guidance of Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander of the Navy, aims to enhance welfare amenities for junior sailors attached to SLNS Welusumana in the Northern Naval Command.

In a dignified sequence, the inspection of divisions of the Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) Annual Training Camp was held at the VNF Headquarters on 24th October 2024. In an effort to enhance facilities at SLNS Uththara of the Northern Naval Command, the renovated badminton court and upgraded main galley were officially opened on 22nd October 2024. The opening was presided over by the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rohitha Abeysinghe.

The Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) on 21st October 2024 commenced a disaster response training programme for the officials of National Disaster Relief Services Centre.

In view of the poppy flower campaign launched to commemorate fallen war heroes, the President of Ex-Servicemen’s Association, Lieutenant Colonel Ajith Siyambalapitiya (Retd) pinned a poppy flower on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (23rd October 2024).
