The local multi-day fishing vessels that were washed-away to Indonesian seas as a result of the recent cyclonic storm ‘Amphan’, are now reaching the island’s shores with the help of the Sri Lanka Navy Ship ‘Samudura’. Meanwhile, SLNS ‘Samudura’ continues to provide food, water, medical aid and fuel to these distressed vessels.

SL Navy recovered a banned fishing net in a dinghy at Thuduwa beach in Kokilai, during a search carried out on 24^th May 2020.

With completion of their quarantine process another 14 persons left the quarantine centre established at Boossa Naval Base, today (25^th May 2020).

Another twenty (20) naval personnel infected with coronavirus and underwent treatment in hospitals, were discharged from the hospitals being tested negative to COVID-19, on 24^th May 2020.

Extending their supportive hand to the programmes conducted by the Navy for controlling the spread of coronavirus, Sri Lankans in Myanmar donated a stock of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth about Rs. 350000/= to the Navy.

Three (03) persons who engaged in illegal fishing using banned nets in the seas south west of Norway island off Trincomalee harbour, were apprehended during a search operation carried out by Navy on 23^rd May 2020.

Sri Lankan multiday fishing vessels driven away to the seas off Indonesia by the effect of inclement weather caused by the Amfan cyclonic storm, are now heading towards the island under the assistance of SLNS ‘Samudura’ and the fishing vessels are provided fuel by the ship, today (23^rd May 2020).

With completion of their quarantine process another 29 persons left the quarantine centers established at Boossa Naval Base and at Anuradhapura area, on 22^nd and 23^rd May 2020.

A suspect with a locally made gun was apprehended during a search conducted by the Navy in coordination with Police Anti-Corruption Unit, at Gonnoruwa area in Hambanthota, on 22^nd May 2020.
