“Naval Special Warfare Maritime Security Course 2019” which was conducted as a Subject Matter Expert Exchange programme by United States Navy, 4^th Fast Attack Flotilla and Special Boat Squadron of Sri Lanka Navy was successfully concluded on 13^th December 2019 with a certificate awarding ceremony.

Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with Sri Lanka Police held a person with 450mg of heroin at Thoddavely area in Mannar, on 12^th December 2019.

The Secretary to Ministry of Defence Major General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) made an official visit to the Northern Naval Command on 12^th December 2019. He was accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, and Commanders of the Army and Air Force.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva made an official visit to the Northern Naval Command on 12^th December 2019. During this visit, the Navy Commander declared open the first phase of the three-storeyed building at the Command Headquarters.

As a result of the inclement weather across the island, a bridge across the road to “New Light Road” village which runs from Madavachchiya to Horowpothana, had been damaged and Sri Lanka Navy initiated to repair it on 12^th December 2019.

The community in Randiyagama has been distressed by flood after heavy downpour. Being alert to the disasters and damages caused to the public life, Sri Lanka Navy conducted a relief operation on 11^th December 2019.

“DD-102 Harusame” belonging to the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) departed the port of Trincomalee today (12^th December 2019), on completion of a three-day official visit. The JMSDF Ship arrived in Trincomalee on 10^th December.

Navy held four (04) persons who engaged in illegal catching of sea cucumber at night, during a patrol carried out at the Palleimunai beach area in Mannar on 12^th December 2019.

Sri Lanka Navy on 11^th December 2019 bade farewell to ‍former Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Sujeewa Perera who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed in the past 35 years.
