The Navy, during routine patrols in the eastern seas, held 28 persons engaged in illegal fishing, on 28^th September 2019.

The bilateral medical exchange programme between the US Marine Corps Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) and Sri Lanka Navy came to a successful end at the Marine Training Centre of SLNS Vidura on 27^th September 2019.

The Navy on 28^th September 2019 apprehended 02 suspects who attempted to illegally enter Sri Lanka by sea. The suspects were apprehended in Urumalei area, Mannar.

SLNS ‘Thakshila’ in the Western Naval Command proudly celebrated its 12^th anniversary on 28^th September 2019.

Another beach clean-up drive of the Sri Lanka Navy, mooted in view of conservation of golden sandy beaches of the island, was successfully carried out at several beaches in the Southern Naval Command today (27^th September 2019).

The Navy on 27^th September 2019 swung into action to clear the blockage under Bandaththara Bridge in Matata. The blockage occurred at the underside of the bridge, as a result of collection of debris and branches of trees, also posed a flood risk in the area.

The final encounter of the Sri Lanka Navy Inter- Command Tennis Championship was held at the Eastern Naval Command tennis courts on 27 September 2019. Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Merril Wickramasinghe graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The certificate awarding ceremony of the Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) course, conducted for the Coast Guard personnel affiliated to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), was held at the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) Training School in Trincomalee on 27^th September 2019.

During a search conducted by the Navy in coordination with the Police STF, a person was apprehended with a stock of illegal cigarettes at Dewata in Galle on 27^th September 2019.

During a naval operation conducted on 27^th September 2019 in northern seas two smugglers were apprehended with 27 packages of beedi leaves. Meanwhile, a subsequent naval operation was carried out in the same sea area and the Navy managed to find 12 more packages of beedi leaves in the seas west of Kovilam Lighthouse.
