The Navy on 24^th August 2019 found 120kg of beedi leaves from a dingy which was in distress in the seas northwest of the Talaimannar lighthouse, due to rough sea condition.

The Navy, during a search operations conducted in Mannar and Talaimannar areas on 23^rd and 24^th August, found another big haul of beedi leaves.

As another step of SL Navy’s conservation effort of a beautiful coastal line around the island, another beach cleaning programme was successfully conducted in Northern Naval Command on 23^rd 2019.

Sri Lanka Navy assisted the fishermen who were distressed aboard their dinghy due to rough sea state at the seas off Sallikovil area in Trincomalee, on 22^nd August 2019.

574.5kg of Beedi leaves were recovered by the Navy during patrols carried out in Mannar and Thalaimannar areas on 23^rd August 2019.

SL Navy seized 983g of drugs suspected to be Cocaine, during a raid carried out in coordination with Mannar divisional Anti Corruption Unit, at Wankalai area in Mannar, in the early morning today (24^th August).

The Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) SLNS Sayura and Fast Missile Vessel (FMV) SLNS Nandimithra set sail for the ports of Chittagong in Bangladesh and Rangoon in Myanmar for a training exercise of officer under trainees in the Sri Lanka Navy. Accordingly, the two ships left the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 22^nd August 2019.

A parcel which was hidden under water and suspected to be explosive, was recovered during a diving operation conducted by SL Navy in coordination with Terrorist Investigation Division(TID)-Colombo, at Aliyawalai sea area in Jaffna, on 21 August 2019.

SL Navy apprehended two (02) persons who engaged in illegal fishing using banned nets at Kokilai area in Trincomalee, on 22^nd August 2019.

The vessel P 625 acquired by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) from the People’s Republic of China in a bid to increase the operational capability of the island’s sea arm, was commissioned as SLNS ‘Parakramabahu’ on a ceremonial note by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena at Colombo harbour today (22^nd August 2019).
