Tri-Forces Commanders attended special discussion with visiting Japanese Minister of Defence
The Japanese Minister of Defence, Hon. Nakatani Gen, embarked on an official visit to Sri Lanka. Following their arrival at the Defence Headquarters Complex in Sri Jayawardanepura, Kotte, on 04 May 25, a special meeting with the Japanese delegation took place, attended by the Commander of the Navy and the Commanders of the Sister Services.

Sri Lanka Navy participates in IMDEX Asia 2025 in Singapore
The International Maritime Defence Exhibition (IMDEX) Asia 2025, the premier naval and maritime defence event in the Asia-Pacific region, commenced on 06 May 2025 at Singapore’s Changi Exhibition Centre. The Sri Lanka Navy delegation, led by the Commander of the Navy, along with the crew of SLNS Samudura, attended the opening ceremony of the three-day exhibition. The team also participated in the International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC), a key segment of the event.

Navy’s EOD & CBRNE experts hone tactics in Trincomalee
The Exchange Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (EOD & CBRNE) Course 01\2025 was successfully held from 21 Apr to 01 May 25 at the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) Headquarters in Trincomalee. The certificate awarding of the course was presided over by the Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area.

Naval expertise in action to strengthen community health wellbeing
In a commendable initiative to promote community health, the Sri Lanka Navy subject matter expertise partnered with the Lions Club and health professionals in the area to conduct a health screening and awareness programme for the staff of the Trincomalee Urban Council. The programme was held at the Urban Council premises on 29 Apr 25.

Navy extends its support with yet another step in mangrove planting
In a significant step toward environmental conservation, the Sri Lanka Navy on 26 Apr 25 teamed up with the Rotaract Informatics Institute of Technology (RIIT) to plant 1,000 mangrove plants at Urani Lagoon, Pottuvil.

Four hundred and nineteen (419) recruits pass out through the portals of SLNS Shiksha
On successful completion of their basic naval training, a total of 419 recruits successfully passed out in a vibrant ceremony held at the main parade ground of SLNS Shiksha in Poonewa on 29 Apr 25. The recruits, belonging to the 257th intake, comprised 266 personnel from the Regular Naval Force and 153 from the Volunteer Naval Force, marking another milestone in the Navy’s commitment to strengthening maritime defence.

Navy turns the tide on trash to make beaches pristine
In a move to protect marine ecosystems, the Sri Lanka Navy on 19 and 26 Apr 25 lend its support to several programmes, restoring and preserving the country’s coastlines in the Southern Province. The efforts were conducted as part of the project of “A Beautiful Beach - An Attractive Tourist Destination” of the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative.
