Embarking on a visit to the Northern Naval Command, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera paid his homage to the Nagadeepa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya on 23rd April 2024.

In conjunction with the centenary celebrations of the Roman Catholic Marian Shrine in Mannar, the sacred statue of Our Lady of Madhu was brought to Jaffna. Allowing devotees to pay their obeisance to the statue, the Sri Lanka Navy on 21st April 2024 provided sea transportation to deliver the sacred statue to the churches in island sector, Jaffna.

The Mini Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) bilateral maritime exercise 2024 between the United States Pacific Fleet and the Sri Lanka Navy commenced in Sampoor, Trincomalee today (22nd April 2024). The opening of the bilateral maritime exercise got under way under the auspices of the Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage and Defence Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Colombo, Lieutenant Colonel Anthony C. Nelson

Relinquishing duties to which he was committed over 33 years, Rear Admiral Nalin Navarathna retired from naval service today (21st April 2024).

As part of another Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) initiative, a blood donation campaign, organized by the Eastern Naval Command, was held at the Trincomalee General Hospital on 20th April 2024.

The Indo-American Naval War College Conference, co-hosted by the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) and Indian Naval War College, was attended by the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera. The conference was held at the Indian Naval War College in Goa, from 16th to 18th April 2024.

Announcing a General Amnesty period from 20th April to 20th May 2024 for sailors, who have been Absent Without Leave (AWL), to obtain official discharge.

Rear Admiral Damian Fernando, who was newly appointed as Commander North Central Naval Area, assumed duties at the Command Headquarters today (18th April 2024).

The Sri Lanka Navy set free 82 sea turtle hatchlings at the Panama beach on 16th April 2024, in a bid to save these endangered marine animal. The Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Thushara Karunathunga was also in attendance on this occasion where the hatchlings were released.
