Naval Social Responsibility project reaches significant milestone, foundation stone laid for 1000th RO plant

Marking another special milestone in the Naval Social Responsibility project which is being implemented under the direct supervision of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commodore Manjula Hewa Battage, the Deputy Area Commander of Northwestern Naval Command laid the foundation stone for the 1000th Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant at Sri Sumana Vidyalaya in Palukadawala, Mahawa on 20th March 2024. The funds needed for this particular project will be made possible by the National Lottery Board.

Commander of the Navy felicitated by Sri Gunarathana Dharma Vidyalaya, Makola

Sri Gunarathana Dharma Vidyalaya of Sapugaskanda Purana Rajamaha Viharaya, Makola today (17th March 2024) felicitated the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera who is one of the past pupils of Sri Gunarathana Dharma Vidyalaya. The appreciative felicitation ceremony was held under the wise counsel of Senior Professor at the Department of Pāli and Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya, Rajakeeya Panditha Ven. Napiriththankadawala Ganarathna Nayaka Thera.

7th Annual Academic Sessions of SLCOMM get underway

The 7th Annual Academic Sessions – 2024 of the Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine (SLCOMM) were inaugurated in a grand ceremony at Wave n’ Lake Navy Hall on the 15th of March 2024. At the invitation of the President of the Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine and Director Naval Dental Services, Surgeon Commodore Nayana Wijedoru, the occasion was graced by the Minister of Health and Industries, Hon. (Dr.) Ramesh Pathirana, as the Chief Guest. The dignified ceremony was also attended by the Secretary Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and members of SLCOMM.

Disabled naval war veterans receive prosthetic legs

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on 14th March 2024 symbolically handed over prosthetic legs to 03 naval war veterans, disabled during the humanitarian operation. The generous gesture came into being at the Navy Headquarters as part of the programme of providing prosthetic legs to disabled naval war veterans.

SLN Electronic Library Management System and Nav 206 System launched

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera officially launched the Sri Lanka Navy Electronic Library Management System and Nav 206 System at the meeting held with the Board of Management, Area Authorities and Board of Directors in the Navy Headquarters today (13th March 2024).

Navy-made thalassemia infusion systems handed over to Girls High School, Kandy for distribution

The Sri Lanka Navy in the first week of March 2024 symbolically handed over 15 thalassemia infusion systems to the Interact Club of Girls High School, Kandy, to be distributed among needy patients. Continuing the Naval Social Responsibility project, the Naval Research and Development Unit of the Navy produced these thalassemia infusion systems.

IORA Day 2024 gets under way in Colombo

Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President and Commander - in - Chief of the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest, graced the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Day exhibition held at the Galle Face today (10th March 2024). The event was also attended by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera. The theme for IORA Day 2024 is “A Sustainable Indian Ocean for Future Generations”.

Trincomalee Naval Exercise (TRINEX) – 24 wraps up with resounding success

The Trincomalee Naval Exercise (TRINEX) – 24, hosted by the Sri Lanka Navy, took place in the Trincomalee harbour and eastern seas from 04th to 08th March 2024. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera inspected the final day of the exercise embarked onboard SLNS Gajabahu.

The second (02nd) Indo Pacific Regional Information Sharing (IORIS) Steering Committee Meeting concluded on a successful note on 07th March 2024. Co-chaired by the Sri Lanka Navy and CRIMARIO II, IORIS Steering Committee Meeting was held over three days (05th -07th March) in Colombo.

Commander of the Navy pins insignia on 17 sailors completed Clearance Diver III course - No 64

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the Chief Guest, graced the passing out and insignia pinning ceremony of 17 naval personnel who successfully completed the Clearance Diver III course No 64. The event was held at the Diving School in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 07th March 2024.
