The Indian Naval Ship (INS) SATPURA arrived at the Port of Colombo for replenishment enabling operational turnaround this morning (20 Sep 25). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) in compliance with time-honoured naval traditions.

Rear Admiral Ruwan Kalubowila was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 28 Aug 25. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda officially handed over the letter of appointment to Rear Admiral Kalubowila at the Navy Headquarters on 19 Sep and extended best wishes to him in the new role.

The Sri Lanka Navy successfully conducted the inaugural ‘Junior Officers’ Conclave – 2025’ on 14 Sep 25, at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium, Trincomalee. The event, held under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, fostered a direct and open dialogue between the Navy’s junior officers from the Naval Fleet Command.

The Sri Lanka Navy marked a significant milestone in its educational and training infrastructure with the ceremonial opening of the newly established Language Computer Lab at the Naval & Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee, on 15 Sep 25.

Two new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants, set up by the Sri Lanka Navy, were officially opened on 13 and 15 Sep 25 at the Mahasen National School in Elahera, Polonnaruwa and Danakiriya Primary School in Siyambalanduwa, Monaragala.

The Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) Annual Training Camp commenced at the VNF Headquarters in Welisara on 15 Sep 25. The event was graced by Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral HNS Perera, at the invitation of Commanding Officer Volunteer Naval Force, Commander Anura Karunarathna.

Recognizing the technical expertise of its Artificers, the Sri Lanka Navy marked the first-ever "Artificers' Day" on 10 Sep 25 at the Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters.

The Sri Lanka Navy announced preparations of the 12th edition of the Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference during a press briefing held at Navy Headquarters today (15 Sep 25). The press briefing was chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando.

Under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, the Sri Lanka Navy held a solemn ceremony on 13 Sep 25 to honour the valour and sacrifice of 4th Fast Attack Flotilla (4FAF) naval personnel. The event was held at the 4FAF War Monument at its Headquarters in Trincomalee.

Marking another significant stride in the Navy’s continuous efforts to bolster its maritime defence capability, 306 naval recruits ceremonially passed out upon the successful completion of their basic training at SLNS Shiksha, Poonewa, on 13 Sep 25.
