Sri Lanka Navy Inter-command Triathlon Tournament 2018 which commenced at the Dikovita fisheries harbour premises came to a close at the Club House, Uswetakeiyawa today (03 March).

Sri Lanka Navy promptly rendered assistance to transfer a fisherman who was distressed at sea by a sudden heart pain, ashore for treatment today (28 February). The patient was onboard the multiday trawler “Vinod Krishan 6” which has left Galle fisheries harbour for fishing.

On successful completion of their arduous training, sixteen (16) officers and hundred and twenty three (123) sailors belonging to the third batch of Sri Lanka Navy Marine Battalion passed out at the Marine Battalion Headquarters in Sampoor, Trincomalee yesterday (27 February).

The long distance triathlon race, Ironman 70.3, was held at the Galle Face Green in Colombo on 25 February with the participation of 612 contestants from 62 countries. Representing the Sri Lanka Navy 5 athletes contested in the event and Leading Physical Training Instructor, JMSN Kumara secured the 25th position of overall competition. Incidentally, he became the 3rd in the age category of 25-29 and 1st among Sri Lankan contestants who took part in the competition.

During past few days, Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 8 persons who engaged in illegal fishing and kept drugs in their possession, at different locations in the island.

Rear Admiral Jayantha de Silva who was the Commander Northern Naval Area, bade farewell to the Navy today (26 February).
